Re: Community Meeting about the Carroll County Schools Boundary Adjustment Proposal

When: Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 7:30 p.m.

Where: Mount Airy Elementary School Cafeteria

On September 9, 2015 the Carroll County Board of Education received a report from the Boundary Adjustment Committee that proposes to adjust Carroll County’s school boundary lines and close several Carroll County Schools. While there were two options presented, the committee recommended Option 2 which includes closing 5 schools: North Carroll High School, New Windsor Middle School, Charles Carroll Elementary, Sandymount Elementary and Mount Airy Elementary. If this happens, Parr’s Ridge would become a K-5 school, 80 students would be redistricted to Linton Springs Elementary, and 260 students would be redistricted to Winfield Elementary School.

Please come to hear more about the Boundary Adjustment Committee’s report and stay informed about what is happening in our community. Mayor Rockinberg will be on hand to speak about the impact this will have on our community.

Here are some other important meetings regards this issue:

Monday, Sept. 28 at 6:00 p.m.: Board of Ed Work Session on the BAC Report

Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 4:00 p.m.: Board of Ed Meeting with Public Comment
