Development Review Process
The Planning & Zoning Commission is a seven member board responsible for land use and development regulations, enforcement of zoning, sign and subdivision ordinances. The commission is also responsible for review of commercial and industrial site plans as well as sign regulations compliance. The Town Planning Commission is currently drafting the 2011 Master Plan . Meetings are usually held the last Monday of every month starting at 7:00 pm at Town Hall. Occasionally separate workshops are scheduled during the month as well. Current members are listed below.

Development Review Process
The Town of Mount Airy Planning Department coordinates the planning review and approval process for development applications and building permits. The Planning Department staff includes the Zoning Administrator, Town Planner, Town Engineer, Planning Specialist, and Permits Coordinator. The Planning Department provides technical support to the Town of Mount Airy Planning Commission for each project. Development projects are reviewed for the compliance with the Town of M
ount Airy Subdivision and Zoning Regulations and evaluated for compatibility with the Town’s Comprehensive Plan and Design Guidelines.
The Town has developed Site Plan and Subdivision Plan Development Review procedures to guide applicants through their individual project.
