Here is some updated information regarding the situation in Carroll after the ice storm that affected us overnight for your situational awareness.

· The Carroll County EOC is currently activated at Level 2, with representatives from Emergency Management, Citizen Services, Fire/Rescue, DSS, American Red Cross, CCSO, CCHD, MEMA, DPW/Roads and Public Information.

· Approximately 42% of the county (slightly more than 29,000 customers) is without power as of11:00 a.m. today.

· ¼” to ½” of ice has accumulated from the storm, with higher amounts occurring closer to the PA line.

· There are numerous reports of trees down and power lines down throughout the county. Crews are working to open roads and the utility companies are working to restore power, but due to the sheer number of responses required it is difficult to estimate how long it will take to complete the process. The substation feeding the Manchester/Hampstead area has been brought back on line; however there are still issues with the feeders from the substation. BGE is actively working on the feeders to get power restored to the largest amount of customers first.

· Spotty precipitation may occur throughout the rest of the early afternoon, but the steady precipitation is over for this storm.

· Colder temperatures are expected overnight, with lows in the teens to the 20s in our area.

· Winds are expected to be about 10-15 mph this afternoon, and are forecast to die down to about 5-10 mph overnight into Thursday morning.

· An emergency shelter will be opening at 1:00 p.m. today at Winters Mill High School.

Additional information will be sent out as it becomes available. Staff at the EOC can be reached at 1-888-5GET-EOC.
