For the 75th anniversary of the Ladies Auxiliary, Peggy Fleming and Kitty Lowman will present a history and look-back at the organization. The mission of the auxiliary, according to its bylaws, is to “cooperate with and assist the fire company socially and financially”. Peggy, who has served as Secretary of the auxiliary for 23 years, has lived in Mount Airy for 43 years. She joined the auxiliary in 1981. Kitty has been an auxiliary member for 62 years. On display will be history books, photos, and documents from the auxiliary. The presentation will show history and photos from the different decades and the transition of change from Ladies Auxiliary to Auxiliary once men began to join.
