Economic Development

It is the vision of the Economic Development Commission to support Mount Airy in being a healthy, thriving, high quality community. It is recognized that economic vitality is part of the foundation for Mount Airy’s progress and livability. To achieve this vision, the Commission which consists of business and citizen volunteers, will work to maintain Mount Airy’s reputation as a highly desirable place to work, with a high quality of life and a well educated workforce. The Commission will strive to maximize the community’s strategic location as a valuable resource, and will actively target individuals and companies who can offer good employment prospects, draw from the local labor pool and are good corporate citizens.

The Economic Development Commission meets the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m.

Mission Statement:

The Economic Development Commission of Mount Airy’s Mission is to retain, expand, attract, and recruit diversified business development providing varied and broad job opportunities for the purpose of maintaining Mount Airy’s high quality of life.
