It is wonderful to see our community coming alive with the spirit of the season! Our Town holds a special charm throughout the year, but there is a special magic that happens when December approaches that reminds us why we love to call this town our home. On behalf of the Town Council and Town Staff, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season! To celebrate this most wonderful time of the year, there are many exciting happenings in our Town this month. Main Street Christmas

December 7th - A Main Street Christmas - 2019 will be this coming Saturday! The old-fashioned Main Street Christmas celebration is a growing favorite, attracting families from Mount Airy, as well as visitors from surrounding counties, Baltimore City, and Washington, DC. It will start with the Tree Lighting ceremony at 5:30 PM at the Train Station, Santa Parade along Main Street will begin at 6:30 PM, Pictures with Santa in Town Hall immediately after the Parade!

Senior Citizen Holiday Shopping Day

Senior Citizen Holiday Shopping Day

December 10th -  from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., senior members of the Mount Airy community, and surrounding communities, are invited to shop and dine in Historic Downtown Mount Airy. Seniors will enjoy special discounts and promotions from participating merchants. A shuttle bus will run from the Mount Airy Senior and Community Center and Main Street, Seniors Citizens can enjoy the beautiful historic Downtown area with out the hassle of parking and accessibility.

December 12th -  Hosted by the Town of Mount Airy Economic Development Commission & The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce. Join us for a night of networking and fun for the holidays from 5-7:00 PM. This free event is located at 110 South Main Street Mount Airy Maryland in Town Hall. 

To help those in our community during the winter months we ask that you bring a non-perishable non-expired food or paper items to donate to the local Mt. Airy Net.

12 Days of Christmas

12 Days of Christmas

December 12th - 23rd - A fun social media scavenger hunt where the town ornament will be hidden in different locations around town. Watch the Town's Facebook page the 12 days before Christmas and see if you can identify the location.  You may be the winner of your own town ornament! A fun way to highlight businesses in town. 

Mistletoe Stroll

Mistletoe Stroll

December 13th - Spy the mistletoe around the town while you and your loved one shop around! Next Friday evening businesses and restaurants will be hanging mistletoe and staying open late on Friday, December 13th from 5 - 8:00 PM.  Enjoy holiday music as you stroll and enjoy the downtown shops. When the shopping is done, enjoy dinner at one of the downtown restaurants!

Wreaths Across America Day

Wreaths Across America Day

December 14th - there will be a laying of the wreaths ceremony at Pine Grove Cemetery at 12:00 noon. Open to anyone who would like to attend.This year, the Wreaths Across America organization would like to place at least 289 fresh, hand-made wreaths at Pine Grove Chapel and Cemetery to honor all the veterans laid to rest.

My Town Photo Contest

My Town Photo Contest

Now through December 19th - The Town of Mount Airy is hosting the “My Town,” photo contest. This contest is designed to highlight everything that makes Mount Airy a great place to live. Open to all residents of Mount Airy. Simply take a photo that highlights your favorite part of town (within the 21771 zip code) and upload it to the “My Town” submission page. Finalists will have their photos posted on the town's social media and the town website. Please submit entries no later than Dec 19th.
