Let's Fall into October!

Fall is the season of change and we have many exciting things on our horizon! Starting with our new Town Administrator, David Warrington! Please help me give a warm Mount Airy welcome to David. Make sure you say hello when you see him at Town Hall!
We hope you enjoy our newsletter which features many of the fun events happening in Mount Airy this month. This is just a sampling...you can find all of happenings around town by going to mountairymd.gov and viewing the calendar. Hope you have a wonderful October!

Spooky Trail

Don't miss this family favorite event on Saturday, October 26th! Rails to trails will be transformed into a haunted train track with spooky creatures and special effects. A memorable, but not-too-scary-for-kids event. Come Downtown for trick-or-treating on Main Street starting at 4:00 pm, crafts starting at 5:00 pm, spooky trail starting at 6:00 pm and Ghost Tours by Mt. Airy Allicance starting at 7:00 PM. There will also be hay rides, kids activities and much more!

Resourceful Entrepreneur Series

Starting tomorrow! Business owners are encouraged to sign-up for classes to improve your marketing skill base. $10 per class. Free for Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce Members. Classes are held at M&T Bank, 1001 Twin Arch Road, Mount Airy, MD 21771 from 8 - 9:30 a.m.Oct 1: Building a Brand with Social Media. Space is limited.

Taste of Mount Airy Soiree

The Greater Mount Airy Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their 5th Annual Scholarship Soiree - Taste of Mount Airy on Thursday, October 17th at the MAVFC Reception Hall. Enjoy delicious food from 20 local restaurants, sip libations from nearby vineyards and bid on raffle items from community shops and stores. Tickets are $10 at the door or now at Blossom and Basket Boutique, M&T Bank or Old Line Bank. There's also a raffle with great chance to win a brand new car or cash! Get those tickets at the same locations for $100/chance. All proceeds go to scholarships for new and continuing education students in Mount Airy. Spruce Up Your Park Day

Did you know Mount Airy has 10 amazing parks? Join us in the Railyard (1 S. Main Street) on Saturday, October 5th at 10:00 A.M. for check-in and instructions. If you are in need of community service hours this is a great project for you! Get out and enjoy a day with others from your community and make a difference! Join the Dan Hozhabri Group for a day full of fun fall activities for the whole family on October 20th! They are partnering with local businesses to bring the community a great afternoon of FREE games, bounce house, music, pumpkins, face painting, and MUCH MORE!!!

Calvary's Indoor Treat Trail

Join us for this FREE family friendly event on October 20th 4-6 pm where there will be treats no tricks, crafts and games! Treats will be spread throughout the church located at 403 S. Main Street.

Pickleball 101

Join us for a Pickleball 101 class in Prospect Park on Oct 10th from 10:30 a.m. - NOON. Try out the new courts...we will have paddles available. All ages are encouraged to join in the fun. Please plan on arriving by 10:15 a.m. for sign up. This is a free community event!

Making Strides Walk

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Central MD is seeking individuals and teams for its annual breast cancer walk on October 20th. Help us spread the word in the local community! If you aren't able to walk with us, consider making a donation in support of research, education and advocacy through the American Cancer Society.

American Red Cross 5K

The American Red Cross of Western Maryland is hosting a 5K run/walk to raise awareness of the many ways the Red Cross supports communities locally, nationally & globally. The run will take place in Mt Airy, Md. at Watkins Park on Oct. 5th, 2019 @ 9 a.m.
