SWEARING-IN OF RECENTLY ELECTED MOUNT AIRY COUNCIL MEMBERS
FOLLOWED BY A SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING AND POSSIBLE CLOSED MEETING
MONDAY, MAY 20, 2019
Pam Reed, Karl Munder and Jason Poirier (re-elected) will be sworn in by the Mayor on Monday, May 20th at 7:00 p.m. to fill the three vacant Council Member seats. The ceremony will be held at Town Hall, 110 S. Main Street, Mount Airy, MD.
A short, special council meeting will be held following the swearing-in for the Council to vote on the Council President and Secretary, and to recognize Council Members Peter Helt and Bob King. Other “housekeeping” items may be addressed.
Following the Special Council meeting a closed meeting may be held as allowed by the following:
Statutory Authority to Close Session General Provisions Article 3-305(b)(2) - to protect the privacy or reputation of an individual with respect to a matter that is not related to public business; Section 3-305(b)(7) - to take legal advice; Section 3-305(b)(8) - potential or threatened litigation and Section 3-305(b)(10) - public security. Subj: Discussion about the security of Town employees, elected and appointed officials and members of the public attending Town meetings.
